Localized District Heating in Thal-Aue (EN)

The case study details the implementation of a localized district heating system in Thal-Aue, Austria, in 2006. The project aimed to reduce reliance on fossil fuels by utilizing wood scraps from the local Theurl sawmill as an energy source. Elektrowerk Assling managed the project, which involved installing Flexalen pre-insulated pipes for efficient heat distribution. The system provided sustainable, affordable heat to the community, demonstrating the advantages of flexible piping in challenging terrains. The project was completed in October 2006, showcasing a successful transition to renewable energy sources.
