Flexalen in Antarctica (EN)

In 2008, the Italian National Research Council (CNR) undertook a project to establish a research base in Antarctica, facing the challenge of providing a reliable hot water supply in extreme cold conditions. Flexalen 600 and Flexalen 1000+ pipes were chosen for their durability and efficiency, having been tested at -80°C. The installation aimed to prevent frozen or cracked pipes and ensure a sustainable water supply. Thermaflex Austria and Thermaflex Italy collaborated on this project, shipping the necessary materials from Ancona Harbour, Italy, to Antarctica.
