District Heating with Biomass in Lichtenegg (EN)

The case study details the implementation of a biomass-based district heating system in Lichtenegg, Austria, starting in 1987. Utilizing Flexalen pre-insulated pipes, the project aimed to provide sustainable and cost-effective heating to the local community by using regional agricultural resources like wood chips. The system has been operational for over 28 years, with expansions including the connection of 18 additional houses.
