District Heating in Griesheim (EN)

This case study explores the district heating project in Griesheim, Germany, where pre-insulated Flexalen pipes were used to deliver heat from a biogas plant to nine scattered farms. The project aimed to provide a reliable, efficient, and sustainable heating supply over long distances, addressing the challenge of connecting remote farms to a central heating network. The initiative was supported by the county Hessen to promote clean energy use, ensuring a cheap and independent heat supply for decades. The project was completed in one month, showcasing the effectiveness of Flexalen pipe systems in rural energy solutions.
