In January 2013 the biggest floating sauna in Europe was inaugurated close to the sea hotel “Fontane” in the Ruppiner See. This beautiful lake is located in Brandenburg almost 50 kilometers north-west of Berlin. The hotel planned to expand the wellness area into the water, which required an extremly reliable connection and supply through the lake.

400 m² of wellness area
Securing an island connection in 1 week
Goals
To find a durable and reliable way to transport hot and cold water below the bridge to the floating sauna to ensure an exceptional and comfortable experience for guests, in only 1 week time.
Project Process
One week before opening of the building the contractor had not found a solution for the hot and cold water transport below the bridge to the sauna, which floats on the lake like an island. After intensive consultations they found the ideal solution for this rare type of application with Flexalen. Now, the installation had to be kickstarted to meet the deadline for the opening. With the commitment of all Thermaflex employees in Germany and the Netherlands, it was possible to implement a reliable solution, and in time for the opening ceremony.
Results
Altogether the wellness area of the hotel covers 400 m2 and the new sauna area about 70 m2. A sundeck in the second floor offers a great view over the Ruppiner sea. A reliable thermal water supply for the swimming pool and special showers now offer great experiences for visitors of the floating wellness island.
