City Brewery Jongens van de Wit

‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands
Reduced 25% of energy consumption
Application: Chilled water

A sustainable solution with ThermaSmart PRO

The brewery was founded in 2016, 6.5 years ago, with the first brew made in early 2017. The beers from Jongens van de Wit are unique because they are brewed on-site. As an entrepreneur, Erwin de Wit faces various challenges such as taxes, personnel, and especially  sustainability.

In order to enhance energy efficiency, the brewery decided to replace its elastomeric insulation with the innovative ThermaSmart PRO. This advanced insulation material offered superior thermal performance, durability, and moisture resistance. The brewery’s commitment to sustainability and cost savings led to a seamless transition, ensuring optimal insulation and a greener future for their operations.

Goals

This project was born from the need of the brewery to prevent condensation and minimize the energy loss. The insulation they used before leaked and therefore absorbed moisture. The owner, had been in search of alternatives that could offer a definitive solution to these inconveniences. ThermaSmartPRO was the key solution for this.

Project Process

The project process began with a thorough assessment of the existing insulation and the identification of areas with poor insulation and condensation issues. Detailed measurements and analysis were conducted to determine the appropriate quantity of ThermaSmart PRO insulation required. The elastomeric insulation was successfully replaced with ThermaSmart PRO solution.

Results

The brewery no longer experiences condensation issues, ensuring product quality and system reliability. Additionally, the energy savings attained at least 25%. During an inspection by the environmental agency, they couldn’t believe how little energy the brewery consumed. They were only convinced when they saw the photos comparing the old and new situation of the insulation.

"We no longer suffer from condensation issues and have saved a lot of energy since ThermaSmartPro insulation was installed 6 years ago. I would definitely recommend Thermaflex to my fellow brewers."
