ThermaSmart® Marine 4.0 on Carnival Encounter with Latitude 1 Maritime

During dry dock insulation replacement projects, two factors are critical: speed and consistently high installation quality. Installers and contractors often work in confined spaces, coordinate with multiple trades, and manage several work fronts simultaneously under demanding schedules. In this environment, training is not simply an added benefit – it is essential for ensuring efficiency, consistency, and reliable project execution.

To support these requirements, Thermaflex delivered on-site ThermaSmart® Marine certification for 22 installers from the Latitude 1 Maritime installation team on Carnival Encounter at Seatrium shipyard in Singapore. The programme was led by Thermaflex trainer André Jonscher and focused on chilled-water insulation replacement through practical instruction, real-time quality assessments, and a structured certification process. This enabled the team to work confidently and consistently across multiple onboard locations.

Shipyard environments are characterised by limited accessibility and tight project timelines. Rather than treating these conditions as obstacles, the certification programme used them as a practical training environment designed to reflect real project conditions.

Particular attention was given to the installation details that determine long-term consistency and performance, including interface handling, finishing quality, and tape application techniques.

The programme followed Thermaflex’s established project-support approach: bringing training directly to the project site, standardising installation methods from the outset, and conducting practical, constructive quality checks throughout the process. Any adjustments or corrections were implemented immediately on-site to maintain workflow efficiency and avoid delays.
